Every candlestick tells a story.

What Is a Candlestick?

A candlestick represents the movement of price during a specific period of time.

On a five-minute chart, one candle represents five minutes of price movement.

On a one-hour chart, one candle represents one hour.

Understanding Upper-Wick Rejection

A long upper wick tells you that buyers were initially able to push price higher.

Indecision is not automatically bullish or bearish. Its meaning depends on what happened before it and where it formed.

The Same Candle Can Mean Different Things

Imagine a candle with a long lower wick.

At Major Support

Could show strong rejection of lower prices and renewed buying interest.

Middle of Random Range

May have little actionable significance.

Rejection Is Not the Same as Indecision

Not every candle with wicks is a strong rejection candle.

A candle with large wicks on both sides and a small body near the middle may simply show indecision.

Compare that with a true rejection candle where price strongly rejects one side and closes significantly away from the rejected extreme.

Using Rejection to Define Invalidation
